Symptoms of Depression:
- A depressed, sad, anxious or bored mood that is difficult to shake off.
- Having no sense of enjoyment or pleasure.
- Low self-esteem.
- Loss of libido.
- Feeling agitated.
- Loss of interest in hobbies or pastimes.
- Weight change (loss or gain).
- Sleep disturbance (unable to get to sleep or waking early).
- Feeling slowed down.
- Feeling tired and lacking in energy.
- Feeling of worthlessness or guilt.
- Difficulty in concentrating and decision making.
- Frequent thoughts of death or suicide.
While some people may experience many of these symptoms, others may experience only a few. Having five or more for more than two weeks suggests depression and you should make an appointment to visit your family doctor. If you or someone you know has an urgent mental health problem or is feeling suicidal, you should immediately contact a Doctor or go to the nearest hospital.

Some days you may feel abit low or in bad form and everything seems to be going against you. Depression is a term used for more serious of prolonged episodes of feeling low and is an illness. A depressive illness is an overwhelming feeling which dulls thinking, impairs concentration, saps energy, interest in food, sex, work and everyday activities and disrupts sleep.
