Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is the inability of a man to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Occasional failure to achieve an erection is a common phenomenon and does not constitute a medical problem. However, if the problem is recurring, it may be erectile dysfunction and you should consult your doctor. Erectile dysfunction can refer to a total inability to have an erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or the ability to sustain only brief ones. The risk of erectile dysfunction increases with age.
Ejaculation is described as premature when it occurs before or very soon after penetration. It is the most common sexual problem in men and affects all age groups but is most common in young men. There are no definitive explanations, but the following may contribute to the problem:
Testicular cancer is caused by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in one or both testicles, which causes a lump or tumour. Cancerous cells can break away from this tumour and form new growths elsewhere in the body. Testicular cancer is most common in men under 35 years and is a treatable and usually curable form of cancer.
